A Charleston Stroll: Chancy & Jackson's Engagement Shoot
If you've ever wondered what an engagement session looks like with me, you're in the right place. It's more than just posing in front of a camera — it's about spending intentional time together, doing things you actually enjoy, while I tag along and document your connection in a way that feels relaxed, natural, and totally you.
Chancy and Jackson's Charleston engagement shoot is the perfect example.
Appetizers, Laughter & Leisurely Wanders
We kicked things off in the heart of downtown Charleston. These two grabbed some appetizers and a drink and just hung out for a while. That slow start is everything — no pressure, no rushing. Just a little date night to ease into things.
We strolled through cobblestone streets, admired historic homes, and I swear, Charleston showed off for us. The soft pink stucco, the texture of the streets, the iron fences — it felt like walking through a painting.
Wardrobe Change & Golden Hour Beach Moments
After a quick change into something a bit more casual, we found ourselves on the sand just in time for golden hour. The wind had picked up a little, giving Chancy's hair that perfect, wild look. I handed them my film camera to mess around with, and they took turns snapping photos of each other, laughing and playing in the breeze.
This part of the session felt playful, spontaneous, like the part of the date where you lose track of time.
So What Does Booking an Engagement Session Look Like?
Here's what you can expect:
We usually shoot for about 1.5 to 2 hours.
We'll hit a couple of different locations — think city + nature, or your favorite coffee shop + the park where you walk your dog.
You can do a wardrobe change, or keep it simple and comfy the whole time.
We'll plan it around your vibe as a couple — whether that's cozy, lively, artsy, classic, or a mix.
The goal is for it to feel like the best version of date night. You focus on each other, I’ll handle the rest.
A Guest at Their Wedding
Fast forward to the big day: Chancy and Jackson's wedding. I wasn't their official photographer, I came as a guest — but of course, I couldn't not bring my camera.
I tucked a little film camera in my bag and captured the day as it unfolded: the way Jackson looked at her during the vows, the hand squeeze before their first dance, and Chancy's dad tearing up during the speeches. I got to experience their day not from behind the lens, but within the crowd. It was tender, joyful, and full of love.
Those are the kinds of connections I live for.
